WHITE RIVER VALLEY James E. Lacy
James Edgar Lacy, 81, of Fayetteville died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, at Washington Regional Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 4, 1927, in the Baldwin community to Angus Olen Lacy and Milford Marie Phillips Lacy.
He was employed as a mechanic, wrecker driver and ser vice manager for Lewis Ford in Fayetteville for 37 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and studying his Bible. He had many fond memories of working with Lewis Ford employees and police and fire department employees.
Mr. Lacy was as lifelong member of Baldwin Church of Christ, serving as deacon from 1966-1975 and elder from 1975-2009.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Louise Wood Lacy of the home, whom he married on Oct. 27, 1951; children, Carolyn and Lonnie Meadows of Greenland, James Stanley and Theresa Lacy of Aurora, Colo., and Robin and Jeff Watson of Huntsville; grandchildren, Heather and Craig Cheevers of Greenland, Tiffany and Mike DeLuisi of Broomfield, Colo., Nathan Lacy of Denver, Nichole and Dylan Steffenauer of Lakewood, Colo., and Ty and Ryan Watson of Huntsville; great-grandchildren, Walker, Kate and Calvin Cheevers, all of Greenland, and Lewis and Jacob Steffenauer of Lakewood, Colo.; two sisters, Doris Ann Glass and Velma Lee Tucker, both of Fayetteville.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Baldwin Church of Christ in the Baldwin community with Mr. Bobby Dockery officiating. Burial will be in Hester Cemetery in Fayetteville, under the direction of Beard's Chapel.
