WHITE RIVER VALLEY Just a summary of what went on with the Whistle Stop Seniors in the October:
We hosted the Durham Community Festival and proceeds went to the community center for future expenses.
Don Pelfrey and his band provided music with Jasper Hankins and the Southern Tradition a gospel group, and the bands where awesome.
Then later, we helped with a benefit for Dennis Combs. We had a BBQ dinner followed by a pie supper. There was a lot of fun with the pies.
Hilma Curlee and I enjoyed an evening out to a women’s event at the John Q. Hammons Center in Pinacle Hills. We weren’t afraid of the storms that had moved in at the time.
Larry Brandon reported Friday that Dixie and Carol were both doing better. That was good news.
The community lost a nice lady this past week, Trudy Stout. She and her daughters came often for lunch. Trudy lways had a smile and kind word. We send our prayers and words of comfort to the family.
The menu for November will be: On Nov. 6, we’ll serve chicken and dumplings. On Nov. 13 will be baked ham, choice of potatoes, green beans, hot rolls, dessert and drink. This will be the last lunch served until Dec. 4.
