WHITE RIVER VALLEY West Fork High School is still raising money for its senior class picture restoration project that was started more than a year ago.
Principal John Karnes said he had raised enough money to restore the senior composite photos from 10 graduating classes in the 1970s and 1980s. The composites feature a yearbook photo of every student in a graduating class.
The originals were damaged due to a roof leak.
The composite photo displays are a common hallway feature at high schools with less than 100 students in a graduating class. Other schools with similar displays are Greenland, Prairie Grove, Lincoln and Elkins.
It costs about $300 forthe school’s yearbook publishing company to make a new composite, Karnes said. The photographs are collected by scanning photos from old yearbooks of those years.
Karnes estimated they have raised $350 to $400, which would cover one graduating class. They may look into seeing if a class at school can do the scanning of the photos, which would cut down the costs per class.
“A big part of the price was scanning individual yearbooks,” Karnes said. ” The school started raising money for the project a year ago. Donations can be sent to West Fork High School, Class Picture Restorative Fund, 359 School Ave., West Fork, AR 72774.
