— WILBERT CURRY

Wilbert Albert Curry, 86, of Elkins died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at Quail Ridge Living Center in West Siloam Springs, Okla.

He was born March 1, 1923, in Fayetteville to Jim “Bud” Curry and Nancy Gibson. He was self-employed as a basket weaver.

Survivors include his five children, Ronnie Curry of Fayetteville, Ravonda Selby of Springdale, Buddy Curry of Johnson, Kimmy Wood of Watts, Okla., and Marquita Sorce of Fayetteville; a brother, Glen Curry of Fayetteville; a sister, Maxine Henson of Springdale; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Friday at College Avenue Baptist Church in Fayetteville.

Cremation arrangements were by Beard’s Funeral Chapel and Crematory in Fayetteville.

ANTHONY

SANTILLANO

Anthony Santillano, 14 months, of Springdale died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at Northwest Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 7, 2008, in Johnson to Miles Leach and Isabel Santillano.

Survivors include his parents of Springdale; maternal grandmother and stepgrandfather, Blanca Santillano and Danny Bryant of the Witter community; maternal grandfather and stepgrandmother, Isaias and Maria Santillanoof Elkins; and paternal grandparents, Randy and Lori Pierce of Kansas City, Kan.

Arrangements were by Beard’s Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville.

A funeral service was held Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville with the Rev. John Antony officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

PAMELA BARKSDALE

Pamela Kay Kennington Barksdale, 44, of the Pettigrew community died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at Huntsville.

She was born April 3, 1965, in Fort Worth, Texas. She was a member of the Greenwood Baptist Church at Weatherford, Texas, and a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Nathan Barksdale of the Witter community; five daughters, Alexandra Noel Barksdale of Harrison and Andrea Michelle Barksdale, Taylor Elise Barksdale, Kara Danielle Barksdale and Kristin Nicole Barksdale, all of Witter; mother and stepfather, Libba and Corkey Nix of Weatherford, Texas; and a sister, Teresa Clark of Kansas, Okla.

Arrangements were by Brashears Funeral Home in Huntsville. Burial was in the Greenwood Community Cemetery near Weatherford, Texas.

SHANNON CLARK

Shannon Marie Houston Clark, 39, of Huntsville died Oct. 29, 2009, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. She was bornJuly 16, 1970, in Huntsville to Harlin Eugene and Regenia Leona Davis Houston.

She was a homemaker and attended Living Water Baptist Church in Huntsville. She was a 1989 graduate of Huntsville High School.

Survivors include a son, Tanner Chance Clark of the home; a daughter, Kendra Corin of Huntsville; her parents of Huntsville; her paternal grandmother, Georgia Houston of Nob Hill; her maternal grandparents, Earl and Othenia Burkes of Huntsville; and one grandchild.

Funeral services were held Monday at Brashears Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Faulkner and Elder Jim Duncan officiating. Interment was in Aurora Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Tanner Clark Education Fund at any Arvest Bank.

JAMES W. PERSHALL

James W. Pershall, 79, died Oct. 31, 2009 in West Fork. He was born March 20, 1930, in Evansville to Jim Platt and Katie Copeland Pershall.

He retired from the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife, Beatrice; three children, Linda Rubel Ralston, Terry Ruble and Gary Ruble; two sisters, Joy Gullett and Cheryl Pettit, both of Prairie Grove; three brothers, Gerald Pershall of Prairie Grove, Royce Pershall of Lincoln and WendellPershall of Morrow; three grandchildren; and one greatgrandchild.

No services are planned. Burial was in the Fayetteville National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Beard’s Chapel and Crematory of Fayetteville.

MARY LOU SCOTT

Mary Lou Scott, 82, died Nov. 1, 2009, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. She was born Sept. 22, 1927, in Springfield, Mo., to William Marshall and Bernice L. Woolridge Pickering.

She owned and operated Scott’s Family Center in Huntsville for many years and was a member of First Baptist Church in Huntsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Scott.

Survivors include two sons, Jack Scott and wife, Patsy, of Huntsville and Sam Scott and wife, Mitzi, of Rogers; one brother; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Arrangements were by Brashears Funeral Home in Huntsville. Services were Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Huntsville. Burial was in the Huntsville Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, AR 72762.

VERNIECE SWONGER

TULSA, Okla. - Verniece Emily Swonger, 96, formerly of West Fork, died peacefully in her home Nov. 2, 2009. Shewas born April 5, 1913, in Patton, Mo., the daughter of James Epps Lee and Octavia Josephine Schrum.

She was preceded in death by the father of her children and husband of 50 years, Frank S. Crawford Sr.; and a son, Joe Lee Crawford. She was married to Loyd Swonger for nine years before his passing in 1997.

She is survived by three sons, Frank Stewart Crawford Jr. of West Fork, Steven Karl Crawford of Parkhill, Okla., and George Emerson Crawford of Fayetteville; a daughter, Rosalee Dean Kelley of Tulsa, Okla.; 11 grandchildren, Shane, Krista, Joey, Lisa, Steven Jr., Kelly, Cindy, Kerry, Erica Lee, Joel David andFrank; 18 greatgrandchildren, Mason, Brandon, Ryan, Timothy, Charlie, Patrick, Karlen, Steven III, A.J., Cameron, Amber Dawn, Micah, Jonathan, Stokton, Tolkein Joelee, Shaer, Phoenix and Cody; and two greatgreatgrandchildren, Savannah Grace and Lilly.

Verniece was a homemaker as well as a member of Christ Fellowship in Tulsa, Okla. She is best remembered for her faith in Jesus Christ and beautiful singing voice, her laughter, her courage and her crosswords.

A graveside service was held Wednesday at Mineral Springs Cemetery in West Fork, under the direction of Moore’s Chapel, with the Rev. Ted Doke officiating.
